Gueorgui Pinkhassov has worked in photography and film. In 1978 he became a member of the Moscow Union of the Graphic Arts and worked for a number of the organisation's publications. His work has been exhibited widely in Russia, as well as in Switzerland and France. He moved to Paris in 1985 where he was a recipient of a Ministry of Culture grant for his work on minorities in Russia. He became a Magnum associate in 1991.
