Alex Webb was taught photography by his father. He has photographed extensively in the American South (1976-77) and began photographing in colour in the Caribbean, Mexico and Africa in 1978. He became a full member of Magnum in 1979 and shared the American vice-presidency with Susan Meiselas and Eugene Richards.
