The arms are those of Cosby of Stradbally Hall, Queen's County, quartering Dodwell of Manor Dodwell of Co. Roscommon. This plate was probably made for Dudley Alexander Sydney Crosby of Stradbally (d. 1774). Cf. D. S. Howard, op. cit., p.401
