Octagonal, the cover, sides and base with panels of mauve guilloché enamel, the centre of the cover applied with a plaque painted en grisaille with a female figure, perhaps Charity, a child at her knee against a rust red ground, in a chased acanthus and blue enamel border, within a lozenge shaped reserve with four pale blue enamel reserves containting rust red enamel and pearl flowerheads, with matt gold and white enamel bands between, within a black and pale blue border, marked in the cover - 3¾in. (9.6cm.) long
