A BRUSSELS OR TOURNAI LATE GOTHIC TAPESTRY, woven in wools and silks, depicting a scene from The Life of Alexander the Great, a parade of courtly figures in the foreground, all in jewelled and plumed hats, while the wedding of Alexander and Roxanne is shown beyond with the King and his Queen in golden costumes with floral decoration, with inscription above, the right foreground woven with the King, seated on his throne, receiving attendants bearing gifts and treasure, inscribed allexoder(?), within an ogee-shaped niche with crocketed and foliate finials, the dormered roof surmounted by a further scene with triumphant soldiers, waving banners inscribed AHONDA..VENU.., the central section depicting the king, seated, with ministers presenting documents, within an architectural niche with trailing foliate borders inscribed ulleeauer, the sides with trailing foliate borders on a mustard ground and with yellowy orange and grey strips, restorations and minor re-weaving, patching to the borders, reduced in height, early 16th Century
