Lot Essay

The table's elliptical form and reeded columnar leg, with cable-twist neck-band and palm and pearl-wreathed foot, is designed in the antique manner of around 1800; and, like its richly figured veneer is typical of the work of Messrs. Gillows. It formed part of the Dining-Room furniture commissioned by Thomas Langford-Brooke circa 1803
