The pattern for these armchair-style commode/night-tables, with their galleried tops and oval-medallion ribbon-inlay in the antique style features in Messrs. Gillows Estimate Sketch Book for 1786 (see Westminster Public Library, ES399). A modified design, stamped by Gillows Lancaster and supplied on 6 February 1826, at a cost of ¨4.9.4, complete with Wedgewood pan, urns sold anonymously, Christie's London, 11 April 1991, lot 57
