A silver-gilt and champlevé enamel Tea and Coffee Service
marked Grachev with Imperial warrant, workmaster Andrei Postnikov, Moscow, circa 1890
Comprising a teapot and coffee-pot, both with slightly domed detachable covers enamelled with six reserves of flowers and foliage, with bone-mounted finial figures of Chinese musicians, a pair of tongs with similarly enamelled nippers, a cream jug, sugar bowl, cake basket and sugar sifter, each convex hexagonal body enamelled on two sides with a blue vase of red flowers on a yellow ground, the cake basket with two vases on each side, the remaining four sides with green oriental geometric motifs, each panel within similar borders of red enamel in the oriental style and with red and white flowerheads on a blue ground at each corner, with wicker-covered handles (except cake basket), marked on bases and handles
