Lot Essay

An almost identical twenty-light chandelier was removed from the Imperial garde meuble in 1809 and installed in the dining-room of the Empress at the Petit Trianon, Versailles, (see Denise Ledoux-Lebard, Versailles, Le Petit Trianon, Paris, 1989, pp. 90-91, fig. 37)
