A PARIS (DARTE) GOLD-GROUND PORTRAIT CABINET-CUP AND SAUCER, the cup painted with a half-length portrait of a lady wearing a diamond tiara and a black dress with short white sleeves, on a brown ground within an oval reserve, the gold-ground chased with bands of cornucopi*ae, flowerheads, scrolling foliage and crowns, the lower part of the cup with a band of stiff leaves, flowers, stars and foliage, the high scroll handle with anthemion terminal and the interior of the cup entirely gilt (very minor rubbing to foot of cup and rubbing to saucer), the saucer with iron-red stencilled Darte/Pal.Royal mark, incised G to cup, circa 1810
