An early Augsburg gilt-metal table clock, the case with foliate ¾-columns to the angles supporting the bell stand with foliate strap-work and surmounted by five urn-and-spire finials, the sides engraved with heroes wielding swords, the front with later chapter ring and inner 24-hour ring, pierced steel hand, engraved beneath with a coat of arms, the reverse with alarm ring engraved below with a momento mori and motto above engraved Hodie michi, gras fibi, (today for myself, tomorrow for you), the posted frame steel movement lacking strike and alarm work and now with 18th. century going train, on foliate engraved gilt metal-base and later moulded ebonised plinth
