A George III mahogany quarter chiming longcase clock, the case on bracket feet with beaded stop-chamfered angles to the plinth, Gothic arched trunk door flanked by reeded quarter-columns supporting a reeded and inlaid frieze with Greek-key carving above, the hood with ogee moulded door flanked by detached Corinthian columns, the pediment set with a foliate carved blind fret with swan neck-pediment with foliate cast gilt-metal terminals, the angles and central podium surmounted by carved urn finials, the silvered engraved dial signed SL. Ashton Bradbury within the foliate engraved centre of the Roman and Arabic chapter ring with concentric calendar ring, pierced blued hour and minute hands, pierced brass calendar hand and counterpoised gilt sweep centre seconds, foliate engraved spandrels, painted moonphase in the arch, the massive three-train movement with six pillars having anchor escapement and hour strike on bell (lacking), the chiming train with 14cm. long pin barrel playing on ten bells via 20 hammers (altered), the assembly being partially carried by a four pillar sub-assembly mounted on the back plate 8ft.1in.
