Desprez with a continuous 17th century battle scene in a wooded landscape, the front with the commander of the army on a white steed, discussing his strategy with his generals flanked by cannon, the reverse with a commander and wounded deputy surveying a distant encampment on a plain, the neck, cover and foot richly gilt with palmettes, foliage scrolls and meandering slender berried branches, mounted with a pinecone finial, a metal mount at the rim and a ring at the shoulder, with a wreath of leaves encircling the lower body and on a shaped square foot cast with a laurel-wreath (slight crazing to glaze, gilding rubbed), signed, the cover with imtation blue interlaced L mark and inscribed Rocray 1643, circa 1900
