The agate frame enclosing square and circular pink guilloché enamel panels with gold leaf garland decoration, with rose-cut diamond monogram, circa 1910, in fitted Cartier case, 32.0cm. high

In 1925 Louis Cartier spoke of "articles which have a useful function but which are also decorated in the Cartier style." Photograph frames, which had become fashionable at the turn of the century, were excellent subjects for the application of this functional jewel concept.
