Lot Essay

The model for this work is probably Bob, a model/groom whose other name Munnings forgot, who replaced George Curzon. Together with Shrimp, the gypsy boy, they feature in the paintings of 1909 and 1910 which were painted in the open air while Munnings lived a nomadic existence in long painting expeditions to the Ringland Hills
