In 1965 Miró published a book entitled Femme with text by Clause Simon. Miró decided to enhance each issue of the limited edition publication with a watercolour. In order to achieve some consistency, he used a woodblock as the base of each design which he then worked on extensively in watercolour. In total Miró executed sixty such watercolours
