Grey-stained calf, covers with a red-stained irregular wavy border extending in from the upper and lower edges, with similar red-stained wavy shape in the centre of each cover, the waves partially enclosing numerous silver staples, author and title scored and stained on upper cover, lower cover scored with signature 'L. D. Germain' in blind, flat spine, turn-ins with palladium rules, decorated paper doublures and liners, original wrappers bound-in, g.e., calf-backed chemise, slip-case, by Canape. Provenance: Paul Verlaine (presentation inscription from the author); Louis Barthou (booklabel and inscription).
