lithograph, 1868, on thin wove paper, a fine, proof impression either in the extremely rare second state (of three) before the alteration of the title or in an unreadable intermediate state between the first and second states, with margins, pale hinge-stains at the upper sheet corners, generally in very good condition

Lot Essay

Delteil records the middle of the title of the second state as reading '...comme aux finances...' whereas the title of the present impression reads '...comme aux fiacres...' Either Delteil is mistaken or this must be an unrecorded state between the first and second states.
