Lot Essay

According to Schwarz the set consists of 25 lithographs including the cover; a further three lithographs were included in the deluxe edition of 50. In numbers I-X of the deluxe edition all the lithographs were signed, and in XI-L twelve lithographs were signed. The present set does not include Pl. I (the cover) which presumably was only part of the normal edition. It contains two of the three additional lithographs (VA and XVIIA) but not the additional title plate (IIA). A total of eighteen of the prints are signed, a greater number than Schwarz suggests. It is possible that the deluxe examples were not issued in a strictly similar form
