Mille-fleurs tapestries are among the most uncomplicatedly enchanting examples of medieval decoration. As Weigert (op. cit., p. 77) puts it, 'Their delightful naturalism, their civilised refinement, and the harmony of their colours place them among the most accomplished creations of French taste'.
