Maker's marks of Forbes for Ball, Tompkins & Black, circa 1845; the second Gorham, no. 1606, 1874; the third Wood & Hughes, circa 1880; the fourth maker's mark W. Ca.......... & Co., circa 1857
The first baluster on three foliate scroll supports, chased with foliate scrolls and flowers enclosing crest and initial engraved cartouche, flanked by chased hound and fox, with foliate scroll handle--5½in. (13.97cm.) high; the remainder cylindrical, with either scroll or loop handle, the second with bright-cut engraved arabesque enclosing two names; the third repousse with flowering foliage on matted ground, enclosing presentation inscription dated 1880; the fourth with name engraved cartouche dated 1857, flanked by chased climbing flowers, the second is largest--3½in. (8.89cm.), 26oz. (4)
