A GOLD AND GLASS BEAD NECKLACE, comprising eight fluted bi-conical gold beads, each terminal with gold granule edge and fine twisted wires between each rib, divided by mainly green and red iridescent glass beads, some tubular, with a central amber glass pendant bulla; a strand with cornelian oval beads dividing long cylindrical and two faceted cornelian beads, with three central drop pendants, two faceted and one with incised vertical lines; a strand with alternating amber and green glass beads dividing larger hexagonal and ploygonal green glass beads, with a central amber drop pendant; another, with opaque green glass beads dividing ten larger opaque red glass polygonal beads, with a central opaque red conjoined double bead; and another, with dark glass beads, decorated with mainly opaque white and yellow marvered trail decoration, the central dark green glass horizontal tubular pendant with encircling yellow trails, a suspension loop above, all restrung with modern clasps, mainly late 1st millennium B.C./Roman period, Eastern Mediterranean, 18¼in.
