AN ATTIC GEOMETRIC POTTERY HYDRIA, on flat base, the wide cylindrical neck with slightly everted lip, the high strap handle with connecting 'strut' and decorated in darker glaze with a ladder of crosses divided by groups of four horizontal lines, the neck frieze with a central wavy rope pattern, bordered by encircling black lines and bands of connecting dotted diamonds, the body with with central continuous frieze of chequerboard, with bands of triangles infilled with chequerboard above, the shoulder with two raised bosses, neck repaired and with old repair rivet holes, LG II b, 720-700 B.C.
