We are grateful to Dr. Annalisa Scarpa Sonino for confirming the attribution from a transparency. She points out that, while some features of the present picture, particularly towards the upper right, recall the early paintings formerly in the Agosti Collection, Belluno, the background and the trees on the left suggest a greater maturity and she dates it to the first decade of the eighteenth century. The figures, not yet showing the influence of the artist's brother Sebastiano, are typical of this early phase
