A bozzetto for the picture of c.1730 once in the Wedewer Collection, Wiesbaden, and last recorded in a sale in Berlin in 1934 (F. Zava Boccazzi, Pittoni, Venice, 1979, pp. 188-9, no. 287, fig. 161). The present sketch differs considerably from the finished picture but corresponds with only minor variations with a drawing formerly in the Benno Geiger Collection, Vienna (ibid., fig. 165)
