This was done on Lear's third visit to Egypt, when he went up the Nile as far as the second Cataract. On the same day, 1st Ocober 1867, he did a drawing of the Pyramids at Giza at 9.30 a.m., numbered '6 (sold Sotheby's, 10 July 1986, lot 28). Bedrashein is a bit further south, near Memphis, and Mit Rahneh is between Memphis and Sakhara to the west
