Lot Essay

Gardone Riviera is on the west shore of Lake Garda. Lear spent some time in the north of Italy on his way back from Egypt and the Levant in May 1867; other views on Lake Garda are dated 13 May and, at Desenzano, 18 May. The peak behind Gardone is Monte Spino and the church on the promentory is at Maderno
