A PAIR OF QUEEN ANNE SILVER TAZZE
maker's mark of John Bache, London, 1713

Circular and on trumpet-shaped foot and with moulded rim, engraved with a lozenge of arms within foliage cartouche, marked on top and foot - 6in. (15.2cm.) diam.
13ozs. (416grs.)

The arms are those of Rolle of Stevenstone, Co. Devon, either for Margaret, widow of Samuel Rolle (d.1717) or their daughter, also Margaret, who married Robert Walpole in 1724. Walpole later became 2nd Earl of Orford. Margaret was later created Baroness Clinton in her own right in 1760. (2)
