HAMMER RIFLE BY WILKINSON, No. 6477, Wilkinson's 1875 patent No. 270, Jones patent rotary-underlever, non-rebounding backlocks with bolted hammers, best foliate-scroll engraving with much hardening-colour, highly-figured stock (cracked and repaired at the hand) with pistolgrip, cheekpiece and engraved butt-plate, the body of the stock inset with a gold deeply-encrusted escutcheon bearing the Royal arms, Wilkinson's patent lever-forend, sling-eyes, browned damascus barrels with matt sight-rib and open-sights, the breech-ends inscribed 'From H.R.H Prince of Wales K.G. - G.C.S.I. India 1875-76'
