The sitter was born in 1775, He was a Lieutenant in the Derbyshire Yeomanry in 1794, a Captain in 1798 and a Major in 1820. Member of Parliament for Derbyshire; he was also Chairman of the Derbyshire Quarter Session and High Sheriff in 1822. He died in 1842.
