A SIMULATED TORTOISESHELL BUREAU CABINET the upper part with a moulded cornice, fitted with adjustable shelves, pigeon-holes and drawers and enclosed by a pair of panelled doors with later arched mirror plates with two candle slides below, the sloping fall with a tooled leather writing panel and graduated fitted interior with drawers concealing two short drawers and pigeon-holes and well with slide, containing two short and two long drawers below, on bracket feet, with carrying handles to the sides, the bureau cabinet, English, early 18th Century, three interior drawers replaced, the painting of a later date -- 40in. (102cm.) wide, 81¼in. (206.5cm.) high, 24in. (61cm.) deep
