cover 1786 (7 Nov.) entire letter from Barbados "p the Ship Polly Capt Spelling" to Captain Makin at "Seralone or elsewhere", carried privately and with contents including "Shall be pleased to see you with a good cargo....... come with your signal flying as appointed and lay off and on"; the face panel with some overall staining which has been reduced in places. Believed to be the earliest letter to Sierra Leone in private hands. Photo
