the chalice and pattern with maker's mark of Dejean, circa 1840, the altar cruet by Jean-Francois Burel, 1819-1838
Comprising; a chalice on circular domed foot with baluster stem and bowl with everted lip, chased and applied with cherubim, bullrushes, wheat ears, vines and medalions of Faith, Hope and Charity and Christ, St.John the Evangelist and the Virgin, a paten, matching, applied with a scene of the last supper, an altar cruet comprising oval boat-shaped stand and a pair of flagons each on spreading circular foot with anthemion scroll handle and hinged cover one with grape and vine finial, one with bullrush finial, alternatively chased with vines and bullrushes and with panels of anthemion decoration, and a gilt-metal table bell, all in fitted leather case, fully marked - height of chalice 12¼in.
