A CHARLES I PARCEL-GILT RECUSANT CHALICE AND PATEN
the chalice with maker's mark only of W. Rainbow, London, circa 1630, the paten unmarked

On spreading hexafoil foot and with cylindrical stem with compressed spherical knop and plain bowl, the base engraved with bands of reeding and Christ on the cross within an oval, the knop engraved with a stylised sunburst, the plain circular paten engraved with the Sacred monogram and a cross within a sunburst, the chalice marked on bowl - the chalice 6¼in. (16cm.) high, the paten 3¾in. (9.5cm.) diam.
