DISTRIBUTION: Breeds in southwest Greenland and Iceland, and in northwestern North America from south central Alaska to southwest Colorada. Winters south to the Faeroes, and in America south to south Carolina on the Atlantic coast and south east California on the Pacific. Rare vagrant in Europe, though surprisingly only one authenticated record for Britain
