The combination of ribbed panels flanking the frieze and cedar-lined drawers are characteristic of the early 19th Century Tottenham Court Road cabinet-maker John McLean (see: S. Redburn, 'John McLean & Son', Furniture History, 1978, pp. 31-37). A labelled sofa table of this type was illustrated in Connoisseur, December 1953, p. 187.
