woodcut with extensive handcolouring, 1919, on wove paper, a fine impression of this rare print, the colours remarkably fresh,signed and dated in penci, and inscribed 'kol.', apparently one of only three impressions with handcolouring (there were also ten impressions printed in black), with margins, generally in very good condition

Emil Maetzel left a career in architecture to become a painter. Together with his wife Dorothea and Heinrich Steinhagen he founded the Hamburg Secession in 1919, strongly influenced by the style of the Brücke artists
