Lot Essay

The inscription may be read as a corrupt version of the saying: "wa bi'l-tadbir sabr min a(l)-nadam" (Planning before work spares you regret). The saying often continues: "Patience is the key to comfort" (Volov, L., "Plaited Kufi on Samanid Epigraphic Pottery", Ars Orientalis, VI, 1966 , p. 133)
