A KASHAN MOULDED LUSTRE, TURQUOISE AND COBALT-BLUE FRIEZE TILE of rectangular form, the larger lower register with a ground of spiralling tendrils issuing palmette terminals and a mass of small scrolling leaf-motifs together with a number of flying turquoise birds on a lustre ground around the raised cobalt-blue naskh Qur'anic inscription, the upper register with a band of interlaced arabesques enclosing palmettes on a similar ground, minor lower border of stylised kufic, late 13th century (repaired)
