Alexandre Maigret was a leading royal furniture supplier during the Empire period and in 1812 he cliaied the title of tapissier et fabricant de meubles d'ébénisterie de S.M. l'Empereur et Roi de Rome. He was owed considerable amounts of money by the Garde-Meuble at the Restoration of the monarchy, of which he was paid very little indeed.
