The only published pattern for a bed with this arrangement of posts is in the 1859 edition of Blackie's Cabinet-Maker's Assistant which showed a Gothic variant with tented canopy and curtains to one side (see: E.T. Joy, Pictorial Dictionary of British 19th Century Furniture Design, Woodbridge, 1977, p. 28)
