Album containing 69 albumen prints, sizes approx. 4½ x 7½ in. to 8½ x 11¾ in. or the reverse, two trimmed to oval, five signed T. Child in the negatives, one of these dated 1875, fourteen with Child's printed labels from the series In and Around Peking, five signed Leung Tse Toy and dated in Chinese, occasional titles and numbers in the negatives including some Chinese titles, the others titled in German in ink on mounts, the majority mounted one-per-page, several with printed paper labels, tissue guards, full black morocco, titled China and ruled in gilt, oblong 4to.

Fifteen portraits including mandarins and beggars; a portrait of Viceroy Li Hung-Chang; two views of early Chinese artillery groups; various views around Canton, including a street scene, Macao; Kaiping, Shanghai, Peking; views of the Hunchback Bridge; the Ming tombs; the grounds of the Summer Palace; group portraits of Tientsin dignitaries, a group portrait of three delegates of the German Railway Consortium for China, 1886-87; and images of early Chinese industry.

Leung Tse Toy was active as official photographer for many Imperial ministers including Viceroy Li Hung-Chang.
