Fifty gelatin silver prints, thirty-six 5 x 7 in. others 6 5/8 x 9½ in., several with pencil annotations, printed paper caption labels and various ink stamps, the majority including photographer's credit stamp on verso. (50)

Lot Essay

Bosshard first visited the Far East in 1931 when he went to Manchuria and Thailand. From 1933-39 he was based in Peking, making various trips to Mongolia, Yangtse and covering the Sino-Japanese war in 1937. During this period his work was used by several American agencies including Black Star and was frequently published in Berliner Illustrirte and Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
