A LOUIS XV FRUITWOOD AND SCARLET AND GILT-JAPANNED TABLE EN CABARET by Jean Hoffenrichler, dit Potarange, mounted with gilt-bronze, the foliate reeded border incorporating a waved rectangular panel of butterflies and flowers on a scarlet ground, the waved apron with moulded border, on foliate-trailed acanthus C-scroll headed cabriole legs and foliate rockwork sabots, stamped J. POTARANGE JME, with printed label to the underside CHENUE EMBALLEUR L'arcade 5 Rue de la Terrasse PARIS, with further labels 2142 HXOO and I2039CS, two legs spliced, the original decoration possibly painted in Europe onto a plain rectangular panel of Chinese lacquer
