A REGENCE BRASS-INLAID EBONY AND EBONISED SMALL BUREAU PLAT, mounted with gilt-bronze, the concave-sided rectangular top with gadrooned collar above a shaped apron inlaid with scrolls and centred by an acanthus-scrolled female mask, the ends mounted with a quiver and torch escutcheon, on acanthus-scroll and cabochon-headed cabriole legs with channelled chutes and rockwork C-scroll sabots, stamped to the underside E. CAMPBELL and with printed label CHENUE EMBALLEUR L'arcade 5 Rue de la Terrasse, PARIS, restorations, the frieze originally with handles, the top previously leather-lined, the drawers with additional fillets, with replacements to underframe of carcase
