A FRENCH HUNTING KNIFE with tapering double-edged blade (seized in scabbard), the hilt with walrus-ivory handle with two lobes at the base and lozenge-shaped pommel (pommel-cap missing), silver quillon-block with short scrolled quillons and cast and chased with acanthus foliage, the langets formed as oval cartouches suspended from ribbons under demi-laurel wreaths, one decorated with a hydra in relief, and the other engraved with a coat-of-arms, a coronet above, in black leather-covered scabbard with silver locket and chape, the latter with frog-hook formed as a grotesque mask, the latter chased on one face with rococo ornament, early 19th Century
