A SPANISH CUP-HILT RAPIER AND LEFT-HAND DAGGER in 17th Century style, the rapier with slender blade (pitted) of flattened hexagonal section with central fuller on each face of the forte inscribed 'Pedro De Espi/noso En Toledo', iron hilt comprising slender quillons writhen at the ends and with button terminals, knuckle-guard en suite, pierced guardapolvo, deep cup with roped rim, pierced and chased with foliate scrollwork framing circular panels damascened in silver and gold with trophies, compressed writhen pommel, and spirally fluted wooden grip (wire binding missing), the dagger with single-edged blade back-edged towards the point and decoratively notched at the forte, ricasso hollowed for the thumb and similarly notched, iron hilt comprising writhen quillons, and triangular guard decorated en suite with the cup of the rapier
