A COMPOSITE GERMAN FLUTED 'MAXIMILIAN' FULL ARMOUR, of bright steel, comprising close-helmet with rounded one-piece skull (small rust holes) with three neck-plates, bevor and 'monkey-faced' visor, laminated gorget, spaudlers, full arm-defences, the cowters with bold heart-shaped side-wings, and mitten gauntlets, globular breast-plate with embossed central feature and with plain bold angular turns at the neck and the moveable arm gussets, struck near the neck with maker's mark, a star in a circle, laminated skirt and tassets, the latter with recessed borders to the lower-edges between a cabled rib above and a plain half turn below, back-plate in four parts, including short culet, and full leg defences with square-toed sabatons and rowel spurs, the main edges turned and roped throughout, partly early 16th Century, together with a shaffron and saddle, each fluted in the 'Maximilian' style (3)
