FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN with twist sighted barrels, plain tang also forming the back-sight, signed flat bevelled locks, reinforced cocks (top jaws and screws replaced), figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip and fore-end each heightened with silver pins, butt with cheekpiece and carved with a dragon's mask in relief behind the trigger-guard tang, silver-mounted horn mounts comprising butt-plate, rear ramrod-pipe and trigger-guard, the latter with urn-shaped finial and set with an oval silver escutcheon engraved with a naked male figure in a landscape, vacant shield-shaped silver escutcheon, iron sling swivels, and horn-tipped ramrod (steel parts with some light pitting), by Jean Baptiste Heuseux à Liège, Liège proof, early 19th Century
