AN UNUSUAL PAIR OF GERMAN PERCUSSION RIFLED SALOON PISTOLS with blued sighted octagonal barrels inlaid with silver and gold and with gold-inlaid signature on the top flat, enclosed actions with shaped iron plate on each side cut with designs of flowers and foliage inhabited by animals, all on a stippled ground and differing between the two pistols, engraved hammers, figured walnut half-stocks carved with scrollwork and foliage in relief on each side of the butt, silver-inlaid blued spur trigger-guards and back-straps, the former each with a gold-inlaid monogram, stepped case-hardened pommels, set triggers, and nearly all their original finish throughout: in original veneered fitted oak case lined in green baize, with accessories (nipple key associated), by Carl Stiegele in München, circa 1870
